I have been hearing from a lot of people today who are suffering from their present circumstances and are in a lot of pain..
I read this passage every morning when I wake up and it gives me a sense of freedom:
“Today I will accept people, situations, circumstances and events as they occur. This moment is exactly how it should be. I will not struggle against the whole Universe by struggling against this moment. My Acceptance is total and complete. I accept things for how they are at this moment not how I wish they were.”
Wow, this applies to a relationship not working out, not getting the promotion we deserve, losing our job, losing someone we love, divorce, your parents not loving you how you wanted them to, addiction, in major debt, can’t pay our bills, not getting pregnant, getting in a car accident and the list goes on…
Why do we fight “what is” because we wish so much for what we want things to be. Why is it so hard to realize we are not in charge, we are only along for the ride in this life and it is NOT UP TO US what happens.
Sure we have choices that lead us to different paths, but the intution to make those decisions, even mistakes, lead us ultimately to where are supposed to be.
How many times have you had a situation like losing a job you loved only to find another job that you love even more and make a lot more money.
I think when we go against the Universe and try to control it, we are only hurting ourselves and we wonder why we suffer.
Living our life on lifes terms is very challenging.
It means we have to trust in uncertainty which is frightening because “what if” it’s bad..which is where my mind tends to go, but “what if” it’s really, really good? That means we wasted a lot of precious time worrying about outcomes that never even happened.
It all comes down to Faith and I don’t think you need to believe in God to have Faith but you have to trust that we are not put here to suffer..even though it may feel that way..we are here to love, be happy and be free.
So if you look at your life at this present moment and you are unhappy, in pain, or suffering from something that happened to you, remember this:
There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.
You can’t change your circumstances but you can change the way you handle them.
